In a World Where You Can Be Anything, Be Yourself.

I created a New and Interesting way to explore Yourself with the Help of Nature and Fashion. All at the same time.
And I invite you to dive in this fashion-adventure with me.

I believe that the outfits we wear - are who we currently are, how we feel, the reflection of our emotions. Money aspect is a crucial moment, but I’m sure you know that even with a tight budget it’s easily possible to express ourselves quite clearly. Our feelings, wealth, trends, lifestyle change many times during life. But we all have a core, deeply growing roots, natural foundation, unique identity of whom we were born - Who We Are. For example, the theory about beauty-types according to the colours of the seasons - is one of the sides of this idea - connecting our style with the nature. I created a few deeper steps in this exploration.
I’ll be explaining them with the help of my personal example.

STEP 1

Discovering the Symbols of You.
Create a collage/moodboard/folder with the pictures of the things you love, associate with yourself. It doesn’t need to be related to fashion. It can be favourite things from childhood, movie characters, paintings, cultures you attracted to, food, …anything. The idea is to choose the things you was always gravitated to, for many years, maybe, from early childhood. The nature we love is usually the same during all our life. Including your favourite landscapes, weather, seasons, places, animals, plants is crucial for this collage. So you can remind yourself about your inner nature.

As an example, I made this collage about myself:

I mostly associate myself with Soft North nature, Totemic Animals, Gods and Visual Arts. You see: few pictures of me traveling my favourite places (Norway, Iceland, Germany, trees and me here by my home in Canada, on Sunshine Coast); couple of pictures I made while traveling (on the left - Germany, Spain); my hand with flowers, paintings (by Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo), animals I associate myself with (Lion, Eagle), Gods (Artemis, Lilith, Hades); logo of my brand (KW is a big part of me); two Queens; and few other pictures about me.

Hope I explained the idea of the STEP 1 to you - Collage of Symbols About You.

STEP 2

Now let’s create a new collage/moodboard/folder. This one will be closer to Your Fashion. By looking at your first collage, analyze how it can be transformed into your personal style. It doesn’t need to be pictures of the finished looks. Just any garments, accessories you like. For example, if you are gravitated to bright Southern hot climate and sunny deserts, you may want to add a garment of the colours of this landscape to your collage:

This is how my collage turned out:

Some items I already own and wear in these photos, some are just pictures from the internet. I included the eveningwear, casual style and outerwear. I love wearing dark-green and dark-blue, but was easier to find examples of the black items on the internet. And black - is my favourite colour in the end.
Dark, partly see-through evening wear, black flying scarf and black long coat are the reflection of my mysterious side (pictures of some Gods and Moon in the first collage). Sweaters, shawl, are about coziness in style (pictures of interior in the first collage), green winter coat is for hikes and travels.
These are the directions of my personality combined with my lifestyle. I live in the forest, love it. And I spend a part of my time in Vancouver - the metropolis of the Canadian West Coast. I love charming sexuality and European aesthetics, and, at the same time, I’m into wild stuff - fluffy sweaters, bags, ethical patterns, wool items. There is a forest animal and a city girl who are searching for the Golden Ratio in my style.

What is your Golden Ratio?

STEP 3

Applying this exploration to your body type and palette that you know matches your skin/hair/eye colour. I would recommend reading the internet about your body type and colour-season-type of beauty to be more clear about it. I have a little bit of information about beauty-colour-types in the middle of this article.
It can be the collage again. Please don’t ignore your very first collage. As we talked earlier about an example of a woman who loves bright desert landscapes, but most likely, she looks not in her best in the sanady-orange palette, because of her skin tone, wearing the orange colour in the bottoms, but not close to the face can be a good solution for this person. Orange will not influence on the skin tone, but also will fulfill her heart with the love to southern vibes:

You can also do Step 3 in practice - going shopping and trying on the things similar to our discovery. It makes sense to visit the shops with the price point that you usually prefer. And to try on only the items that match your current lifestyle.

My example. My photo is made from a higher point, that’s why my legs look shoter than they are, and the butt is smaller than it is :))

Obviously, it’s just a couple of examples from my endless list of shopping items I’m going to slowly hunt for :)

In the end, Step 3 is not about classifying and following the rules of body and colour types. It’s about personal discovery and creativity, and using these rules, if you feel like it. Please highlight a few kinds of garments that suit your beauty the best. For example, certain design of jeans with certain design of t-shirt. In my case it’s high waisted jeans plus a shorter bigger t-shirt. It can be fun to create 3-5 complete outfits from the typs of garments that look the best on you.

Conclusion

The main idea of this journey is to make you feel as good and as confident as possible in what you wear. True confidence comes from within, not from the outside. And looking the way we actually feel, we are real and honest with the world around us, creating genuine connection between us and reality. Wearing masks - is lying to ourselves. It's hard to go through life when we are not natural, not who we were born.
Also, the garments that don't reflect our personality attract the type of people that we don’t want to be surrounded with.

If some items look really beautiful on you, but create a doubt, discomfort and lead you away from how you feel inside - it means you don't need to spend money on them. They will be hanging in your wardrobe with no use, and you'll forget about them quite fast. If the item makes you feel good inside, but when you look at the mirror, it does make you look less attractive, makes you look silly, out of place - no need to purchase it as well. You might even be embarrassed to wear it. So it will be forgotten in the depth of your wardrobe too. We need to find a balance between your personality and your current reality. Outfits that deliver you self-esteem boost by reminding you of how amazing you are.

YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. AND YOU ARE ART!
